Description
In BogenKante, different architectural forms and spatial situations encounter one another. Curve and edge each follow their own geometry, yet the montage allows them to form a continuous visual progression. Spaces photographed separately become an architecture that appears photographically familiar but has never existed in this form.
This connection is not created by the montage alone. Our perception searches for continuous lines, corresponding forms and spatial relationships, combining the photographic fragments into a plausible whole. BogenKante makes this process the actual subject of the image: coherence is not only constructed within the work – it also emerges through the act of seeing.
During a joint photo walk in Düsseldorf with @frischauge and @alphasixtynine (thanks, everyone! 🤗), I was struck by how naturally contrasting formal languages can coexist.
Soft, flowing forms meet orthogonal structures.
Perspective, rhythm, and structure create a connection that feels natural,
even though the formal systems remain contradictory.
The contrasts persist. The image becomes plausible through the transition established by the montage between them.
